Job Title: Lead Carpenter
Job Summary: As a Lead Carpenter, you will be responsible for overseeing and managing all aspects of carpentry work on construction sites. You will lead a team of carpenters, ensuring that projects are completed safely, on time, and within budget. Your expertise in carpentry techniques, construction materials, and project management will be essential in delivering high-quality results.
Responsibilities:
- Project Planning and Coordination:
- Collaborate with project managers and other trades to plan and schedule carpentry work.
- Interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications to determine project requirements.
- Coordinate with subcontractors and suppliers to ensure timely delivery of materials and equipment.
- Carpentry Work:
- Perform skilled carpentry work including framing, installing windows and doors, building stairs, and finishing.
- Ensure compliance with building codes, safety regulations, and quality standards.
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to carpentry work on-site.
- Team Leadership:
- Supervise and mentor carpentry team members, including apprentices and journeymen.
- Delegate tasks and provide guidance to ensure efficient workflow and productivity.
- Conduct regular safety meetings and enforce safety protocols to maintain a safe work environment.
- Quality Control:
- Inspect completed work to ensure it meets quality standards and client expectations.
- Address any deficiencies or errors promptly and implement corrective measures as necessary.
- Budget Management:
- Monitor project expenses and resource utilization to stay within budget constraints.
- Identify cost-saving opportunities and efficiencies to maximize project profitability.
- Client Communication:
- Communicate effectively with clients, architects, and project stakeholders to address concerns and provide updates on project progress.
- Ensure client satisfaction by delivering high-quality workmanship and resolving any issues in a timely manner.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience as a carpenter, with at least [2] years of experience in a lead or supervisory role.
- Proficiency in carpentry techniques, tools, and equipment.
- Strong understanding of construction principles, building codes, and safety regulations.
- Excellent leadership and communication skills.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications.
- Solid organizational and time-management abilities.
- Certification or training in carpentry or construction management is a plus, not required.
Education:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Additional certification or vocational training in carpentry or construction management is preferred, not required.
Working Conditions:
- This position requires working outdoors and in various weather conditions.
- Physical stamina and the ability to lift heavy objects and work at heights may be required.
- Flexible hours and occasional weekend work may be necessary to meet project deadlines.
Compensation:
- Hourly Position 34-40 hours per week. OT available if needed.
- $33 - $40 per hour based on experience.
